The DESC Collaboration Meeting
The DESC Collaboration Meeting was held at ETH Zurich from the 8th to the 12th of July, 2024.
From July 8 to 12, 2024, researchers of the Dark Energy Science Collaboration (DESC) have gathered at ETH Zurich for a collaboration meeting hosted by the ETH Cosmology Group. The aptly themed "Last Meeting Before Data," highlighted the anticipation for the Rubin Observatory’s upcoming "first light" in 2025. With the telescope in its final construction phase in Chile, DESC members gathered to prepare for the groundbreaking data soon to be captured by the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST). Sessions focused on refining data processing pipelines, enhancing measurement techniques for dark energy studies, and fostering collaboration. The meeting concluded with a live virtual tour of the construction site, giving attendees a close-up look at the telescope’s progress and generating a sense of excitement for the data collection phase ahead.
The Dark Energy Science Collaboration (DESC) is the international science collaboration that will make high accuracy measurements of fundamental cosmological parameters using data from the Rubin Observatory Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST).
